Voting Registration Pop-up
The purpose of this event was to inform other students how to register to vote, where you can go to register to vote, and when you need to register by. Typically college students are the least amount of people to vote, and this event was supposed to give more information to students to help them feel more certain when registering. The main thing I learned was how to throw a pop-up event and make it virtual. Virtual events are becoming more popular with the pandemic and the technology we have, so it is good to have practice.
As a student in the class Of RPTS 321, my classmates and I were put into groups to plan a virtual pop-up event. The group that I was in was a pop-up for voter registration. The planning took about three weeks to come up with a way to get students at Texas A&M involved and registered to vote for the upcoming 2020 presidential election. The event had multiple aspects that made it more interesting. The first was a website with information about the election, how to register in Texas, and links to other resources. Some graphics were made to advertise, and a mass email was sent out the day of the event to let people know about the event. To give thanks to the people who decided to participate in this event we gave out gift cards to three randomly selected winners.
